Honey Jar Capacity Calculator
A container’s fluid-ounce capacity and the ounces of honey printed as net weight are different measurements. Convert stated jar volume into an estimated honey fill weight.

Jar Capacity → Honey Net Weight
Start with the container's stated volume capacity. The calculator estimates the honey net weight that volume can hold.
12 lb/US gal is a convenient planning value. Real honey density changes with moisture and temperature; verify the actual filled jar on a scale.
Estimated honey net weight
This is a fill-planning estimate, not a legal net-content determination. Use a scale for actual packaged net weight.
Why a 12 fl oz jar can hold about 18 oz of honey
Fluid ounces measure volume. Ounces on a honey net-weight statement measure mass. Using a planning density of 12 lb per U.S. gallon, each fluid ounce of jar capacity corresponds to about 1.5 ounces of honey by weight. That makes a 12 fl oz fill approximately 18 oz wt.
Formula
honey oz wt = jar fl oz × honey density (lb/gal) ÷ 8
The density field is editable because honey density changes with moisture and temperature. Use this result to plan packaging, then verify actual filled jars on a scale.
Volume capacity is not a label claim
A supplier may describe a jar by nominal fluid capacity, while honey is sold by net weight. Do not copy a volume number directly into a honey net-weight declaration.
