Honey Moisture Blender
Blend buckets by pounds and moisture percentage, or work backward from a target moisture to find exactly how many pounds of a second honey to add.

Use your actual honey weight in pounds. Decimal weights and moisture readings are supported.

HONEY HOUSE MATH
Blend moisture percentages correctly
Moisture readings should not simply be averaged unless every lot weighs the same. A 60 lb bucket has twice the influence of a 30 lb bucket. This calculator uses a mass-weighted average so each lot contributes in proportion to its actual weight.
Final moisture % = Σ(weight × moisture %) ÷ Σ(weight)
Target mode rearranges the same mass-balance equation to solve for pounds of a second lot needed to reach a selected target.
Example
Mix 60 lb at 16.5%, 45 lb at 19.2%, and 35 lb at 17.4%. The 140 lb batch calculates to about 17.67% moisture.
Calculate first, then re-measure
The result assumes each refractometer reading represents its whole lot and the final batch is mixed uniformly. Recheck the thoroughly mixed batch with a calibrated refractometer before bottling or storage. USDA honey grading materials use refractometric moisture measurements, so arithmetic should support—not replace—the physical measurement.
Common questions
Can I average 16% and 20%?
Only if the two amounts weigh the same. Otherwise use a weighted average.
Can it solve how much dry honey to add?
Yes. Target mode solves the pounds needed when the added honey is on the opposite side of the target.
Can I add wetter honey to dry honey?
Yes. The tool can calculate the amount that mathematically reaches the target you select.
