Queen Cell Emergence Calculator

Choose the queen-cell milestone you actually know. The calculator estimates emergence and follow-up mating and first-egg windows without pretending an already-capped cell was necessarily capped today.

QUEENS & SPLITS

Queen Cell Emergence Calculator

Estimate queen emergence from a known egg, graft, or capping date—or get an honest window when you only discovered an already-capped cell today.

A queen typically emerges around day 16 from the egg date.

QUEEN TIMING

A capped queen cell is not automatically eight days from emergence

If you know the date a queen cell was capped, emergence is roughly eight days later on the standard queen-development timeline. But if you simply find a capped cell during an inspection, it may have been capped several days earlier. This calculator keeps those situations separate.

Standard timeline:egg ~day 0 → cap ~day 8 → queen emerges ~day 16.

Known capping date

Use “Cell capped date” only when you reasonably know when capping occurred. The calculator projects emergence about eight days later.

Found capped today

If the cell’s capping date is unknown, the tool reports an emergence window from roughly today through eight days from now rather than pretending the cell was capped today.

Graft dates

A graft transfers a young larva, not an egg. The calculator uses an approximate young-larva queen-rearing timeline and presents the result as an estimate. Use the full Queen Grafting Calendar when you want acceptance, cell-transfer, emergence, mating, and first-egg milestones.
